ABOUT THE MINDFUL MUTT ACADEMY

I'm Morgan, the founder Mindful Mutt Academy, we specialise in puppy and obedience training and would love to help you on your training journey. We aim to make training fun, easy, kind and accessible for all.

We were previously known as Morgan's Muddy Mutts, and we provided dog walking and pet care services. We started Morgan's Muddy Mutts in 2019 and although I have absolutely loved where this business went, dog training is where my heart is. I found my passion in positively training dogs and helping owners better understand their dogs.

My love for animals started very young, Grace, my 16yr old Staffordshire bull terrier, came along as a present on my 13th birthday (best present ever!!!). I have also been horse riding from a very young age and have my own pony, Lily. This had meant that I went on to do lots of volunteering over the years. I have always loved caring for animals and learning with them.

WHY POSITIVE,
FORCE-FREE
DOG TRAINING?

I have chosen the positive, force-free way of dog training as when Grace was younger, there were only aversive training methods, and I have seen the negative impact this had on her, and many other dogs over the years, as well as negatively impacting our relationship at the time. I have seen that not only have aversive methods not actually resolved training issues, they have made them worse, and even caused secondary training issues. Any regulated dog training course, qualification or certification will only ever include positive methods.

Aversive (or balanced) methods are often seen as a quick fix, 'before and after' type training which is why people tend to use these methods, but the negative impacts are never shown on social media or on TV. I have used positive methods for years, and although they may have taken a bit longer, the long-term, reliable results and the ever-growing, strong relationship that it creates with the dog is above all quick fix training. I will never use fear, intimidation or pain to train dogs, why train dogs that way when we could do so in a positive, force-free way? I am willing to accept the challenge of showing everyone that dogs can be trained positively.
