Your Relationship with Your Dog

How is your relationship with your dog? Would you like to improve it? Here's some tips for that!

Imagine your relationship with your dog like a bank account

Good Moments = Making Deposits into the Relationship Bank Account

This can include:

  • Playing with your dog

  • Advocating for your dog's space in public

  • Respecting if they don't want to be touched

  • Training

  • Down time together

  • Rewarding your dog in ways they enjoy

  • Walks

Bad Moments Mean Withdrawals

This can include:

  • Confusion over inconsistent cues

  • Being a space invader

  • Losing your temper or being tense around your dog

  • Put them in a situation they aren't ready for = confusion/frustration

  • Lack of good moments

Keep that Account Topped Up

We are only human so we will make mistakes that mean a withdrawal from our relationship bank account.

What matters the most is that we are actively trying to keep our account growing over time & not letting it get to zero.

Having a good relationship with your dog will mean that you get better engagement, more willing to work with you and any training goals are possible.
